Let’s Meet
About me
Hello There!
My name is Lexi Johnson, and I am a passionate voice teacher with 4 years of experience helping students of all ages and skill levels reach their full vocal potential.
Growing up, I always had a love for music and singing. I began taking voice lessons at the age of seven, performed throughout my young years, went on to study voice at Ohio State University, then earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Music with a focus in voice from the University of Akron in 2020. I have studied under the tutelage of Lisa Paynter (Executive Director and Youth Program Director of the North Canton Playhouse), Dr. Katherine Rohrer (esteemed worldwide vocalist, former Adler Fellow, and Professor of Voice at Ohio State University), and Dr. Laurie Lashbrook (Assistant Professor of Music and Chair of the Voice Area at the University of Akron’s School of Music and faculty adviser to the student chapter of the National Association for Teachers of Singing). Over the years, I have worked with students from all backgrounds and with various goals, whether they’re aspiring professional singers or simply want to improve their singing ability for personal enjoyment.
My teaching philosophy is centered around helping each student develop their own unique voice and encourage healthy technique. I believe that every person has the potential to become a great singer, and my role as a teacher is to guide and support them in achieving their goals.
In my lessons, we focus on vocal technique, breathing, and posture, as well as helping my students build confidence and expressiveness in their performances. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I tailor my teaching style and methods to suit each individual student’s needs.
Aside from teaching, I am also an active performer myself, having sung in various choirs, musicals, recitals, operas, shows, and recordings throughout my career. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the art of singing and allows me to share my passion for the craft with my students.
I would love to work with you and help you achieve your musical goals! So if you are ready to start your vocal journey, let’s get started!
